Believe it or not, I haven’t walked through Petaling Street yet. Been busy absorbing the sights and sounds of downtown KL, soaking it all in. I just love KL. Somehow, life here is urban yet charming. Furthermore, it doesn’t wield the stress one can clearly sense in Singapore.

Every city has it’s Chinatown and in the heart of KL, you have Petaling Street. Here you can find a variety of bazaar style goods, mainly fake designer stuff… Plus so much to eat. Trust me, everything looks so tempting (both the goods and food).

It’s quite annoying though when you have to leap across puddles and the occasional human spit.

I’m starting to recognise the faces of some roadside peddlers. The sequence is the same every morning when I walk to work. The stapler guy, the caps guy, the cherry guy… Oh, then at night, the whole landscape in front of Nandos transforms into an outdoor mamak.

People say the area feels creepy and unsafe. Seriously, I used to spend a lot of time here when I was studying in KL… So the creepy, unsafe feeling is numbed off somehow. I do try to be alert yet I can’t help but enjoy this new atmosphere.

Hello world! I’m back online!

For those of you who are wondering how I am, well thank God KL is a civilized place… Quite easy to adapt actually.

I have a magnificent view of the KL tower & Petronas Twin Towers through my hotel room window. It’s the same angle as this picture above which I googled.

Internet speed at the office is much improved. After all, my office runs on a WAN and back in Pasir Gudang, we were accessing the net via the Head Office… I think… And nothing beats surfing from here since the server is only meters away.

I’ve been busy. Went to check out my Masters Eng. and MBA plus made some appointments to see various lecturers/counsellors. Spent the morning preparing my research proposal.

Well… thought I’d better get all these things settled before my actual work kicks in.

Won’t be back in JB this weekend, I’m afraid. I’ll be working on Saturday. I just found out that my office is open every Saturday and the staff are on 2 rotations. Mine happens to be working this coming weekend.

Keep-in-touch guys!

Darn… I actually took a nice photo of all of us in Corner Bean, but I looked so gemuk next to the guys that I’ve decided this general pic is a better upload. I’m kinda hooked on Nissin noodles and I get to eat it usually in Let’s Eat, a cosy eatery in Johor Jaya. I’m glad Corner Bean has it too.

Was just reviewing pics of myself when I was in good ol’ Aussie. Can’t believe how many kilos I’ve put on since I came back to Malaysia. This proves it. Malaysian food is high in calories, greasy and dangerous… Of course, we also get to eat round the clock as opposed to sleepy ol’ Aussie where everything closes with the office crowd.

Sigh… what am I supposed to do? Go on a diet? Grrr…

Wow. Things have changed… development has seized the East Coast. It’s been about 3 years since I last went to visit my counterparts in Terengganu. I had such a pleasant drive up the East Coast on Sunday…

I made a beeline for East Coast Mall which was advertised in the papers recently. Was extremely happy to shop to my heart’s content in Parkson and sampling my last bit of civilization before going further up the coast.

However, even Paka is much more developed before… with a brand new look and the Pasar Malam relocated to a nicer location. Psst… They even have Maybank here now.

Right now as I write this, I’m enjoying a Coke Float in Corner Bean – a WIFI-enabled cafe in the heart of Paka town. In fact, there are a few cafes like this one around here. WOWZ WOWZ and WOWZ…

Had my favourite Nasi Kerabu at Paka Kopitiam (much like Kopitiam Kim in JB) and I think life has improved for my colleagues. Definitely.

Should be more sociable and stop blogging. Back to my friends.

I’m no coffee connoisseur but I can tell you that right now  I like my coffee black. No sugar, no creamer, nothing but pure black liquid. I was never hooked on coffee… I first romanced with coffee when I was introduced to the world of ice-blended Coffee Bean – my favourite still being the Blackforest flavour with lots of whipped cream. Occasionally I wouldn’t mind a Cappucino or Latte at cafes… Nor would I mind the Aik Cheong I have at home (BTW, I love my new coffee maker!)

Then I moved to JB, lived in Permas and had no choice but to drink Starbucks due to its convenient location. Starbucks was really bad till I discovered I should stop drinking ice-blendeds there. When I finally settled for the pure black Americano, I was in love with coffee again. No more Affogattos and bla bla blas for me.

Oh ho! Then came my hometrip in January this year. A new McDonald’s drive through had sprouted up near the apartment I stayed in and so I decided to get my fave McBreakfast. It was there that I met McD’s Premium Roast for the first time.

And you know what? I’m loving it!

This blog entry is a result of unquenched coffee thirst because my attempt to buy McBreakfast via a friend from Pelangi Indah at 6.30 a.m. Monday was foiled – they ran out of McMuffins for some reason. So no McBreakfast meant no McCoffee for me… If only they sold McDreamy at the nearest stores… Ooops… i’m married.

And if you’re wondering… Yes, I do drink Nescafe if it’s either the Gold Blend or Dark (the one that is sold in green “sticks”)
