Hey someone did something really cool for science this week!
Don Petitt, NASA astronaut… no let me rephrase that…
Don Petitt – coffee-lover, NASA astronaut invented a zero-gravity cup on his day off in space. Before this, astronauts have to drink out of bags with a curious straw sticking out of it… (which look more like urine bags)
Well, it is such an unbelievably simple invention. Using the principles of surface tension, he folded a piece of plastic into a teardrop shape (coolest ORIGAMI in the world), and the coffee in the “cup” is perfectly unspillable yet you can sip till the last drop!
Oh this part is going to gross you out though. Don is actually working on a urine-to-drinking-water converter in space, errr… that’s his real job.
Ok go on… you can find it on Youtube…
Wow didn’t realise that my mobile phone is this great! I can surf the internet and it’s fast, clear and addictive. Worse still, it’ll cost a bomb too clog this. Haha!
Well just thought it was worth trying…
My emails n even facebook works really well too. Ok better stop. I can hear maxis laughing all the way to the bank.

I’ve been trying all morning to get my signature right. Try signing your name with a mouse! John has got his “digital” signature on many memos and documents, so he advised me to prepare one.
Finally, I discovered the best program for signing my name. MS Paint. In the paintbrush mode, I selected the ‘/’ tool which gives more weight to my signature.
I prepared three signatures. My official one, a simple one for “initialing” and an italized ::sklc::
Back to my law books… can’t believe I’m studying this stuff.

Imagine, that when you die… you could end up as a masterpiece around someone’s neck, sitting on someone’s finger or hanging from someone’s ear. You would be none other than a Swiss Algordanza ashes-to-diamond. Read about it in the NST this morning.
At 1700 deg C, carbon from your ashes is compressed under high temperature and pressure, permanently changing its structure into a carbon allotrope known as graphite. This special diamond has a tinge of blue. After six to eight weeks, a crude diamond is formed, ready to be crafted by skillful hands.
Some are fashioned as jewellery stones, while others are made into ornaments.
I saw some very nice advertisements on a Japanese webpage. Some people even make crosses and flowers out of the diamond.. I saw some pretty designs advertised on a Japanese webpage. Some people place orders for diamond crosses and flowers.
The founders of Algordanza are only in their late twenties. The company is located in the eastern Swiss town of Graubuenden. Check it out TnT, you could be the next entrepreneur! They have 15 machines and only authorized personnel are allowed within a certain radius… to assure loved ones that all care is taken to respect the dead.
Wonder what archaelogists and tomb raiders a thousand years from now would think when they find these strange blue unnatural stones… My blog could be the only hint of what really happened.
Now that’s cool!

Was catching up on some tech news at www.ubergizmo.com which happens to be one of my favourite info zones. Found a link to an “inventor” with a passion for robotic stuff.
I really love his Lego scanner. Wouldn’t I wish to make one too…

Sigh, if I really had the time… I would invent for myself a fully automated life. But you need money for such hobbies, a serious lot of money!
See… there are really only 2 kinds of people in this world. Those who would work hard, save and spend their money in pursuit of their passions in life…. and those who get by, wishing they had a hobby.
