Somebody out there is lying in bed

Some stranger crying for a piece of my bread

Some lonely dog hasn’t found a new home

Some orphan boy head knocking on chrome

Something’s not right in the next neighbourhood

Nobody’s doing what they can, what they should

Some throw in the towel while somebody tries

Nobody’s winning, somebody dies

Maybe you’re winning, still somebody dies

What change are they talking on TV, on radio

Pump up the volume, bro, can’t hear it on stereo

Somebody’s needing you, go! where you have to be

Leave mother, leave father, leave brother, leave me

Somebody’s sacrifice, it’s yours maybe mine

To reverse all these wrongs, pull the brakes, stop the crime

Just closing your eyes, you feel safe and secure

Real people hurting here, can’t tell them “Endure!”

It’s nobody’s burden, but you make the difference

Maybe you first, maybe me first, we could take turns

Let’s bring on some hope amidst struggle and strife

Start with small steps, they may save a life

Don’t need no dough to change what goes around

Smile, bring God’s love, let His joy just abound

Go tell the nations that life doesn’t end

Help them make choices they can’t comprehend

Bring out the blankets, send the next meal,

Change not political, changes surreal

Maybe it’s possible, bro, you and me, then

Slip on the passion, we’ll do what we can

Our innate vacuum for something higher
A longing, aching, our heart’s desire
Is due to God’s divine design
That longs for Him till Him we find

Today I discovered something more
Our ambitions, dreams, desires for
A perfect life, a house called home
Comfort, luxury within our dome

Proves God’s wisdom in creating us
By instinct we want out from this curse
We strive to believe in God’s promise foretold
Heavenly mansions built by streets of gold

Predestined to live on His estate
Everlasting joy upon our heads
A city engulfed in glory lighting
Ourselves transformed, our robes ashining

Truly God created you and me
With souls and spirits that can see
That life on earth is not the end
Eternal life is around the bend

Paradise is not a song in vain
Written by some artistes in pain
Rather let this be an ode
To celebrate our next abode!

Countless are the things I do

But writing is my favourite

The way I feel, the things I’ve learnt

They all make sense when I just write

Countless are the things I’ve tried

But writing is my weathered friend

The sorrows of the yesteryears

My journey as my heart did mend

Countless are the things I want

But writing serves me in my lack

Richer still with each new word

Free as air, worth my neck

Countless are the things I’ve known

But writing must have made them plain

To write I risk to bare my depth

When read, the feedback is my gain

Countless are the things I say

But writing’s simply not the same

The value of the written word

Blogged or penned, it is my claim

hey, i’m hopeless at blogging

n worse off in baking

so the reason I should get sent,

to this baking event

may be echoed in words familiar

though not entirely similar

the quick, brownie box

a klutz both in spelling

and in recipe deciphering

3.30 p.m. and I wasn’t ready for myfarewell party… I made a quick dash to the printer so that I could collect my speech… words wouldn’t have come easily for this emo event, so a prepared poem was the best way to say it all.

Amidst the sea of familiar faces, I brim with joy because there lay before me my favourite Ayamas chicken, bihun goreng, a strawberry yogurt cheesecake and the mango delight (both cakes from Secret Recipe)… This cute graphic above is a scanned image of my farewell card. Inside reads “Wait a minute, you can’t leave, you did everything here!”

What else was there to say except thank you, thank you and thank you everyone! My hands shook nervously as I cleared my throat to speak.

Friendship, partnership and relationship

I treasure this bond, one that we should keep

Six years of journeying with you, my friends

Surely you didn’t think this is the day it ends

There are many expressions in the English lexis

Words like thank you, miss you, fond farewell kisses

But spoken words are heard and easily forgotten

They slip away eternally irrelevant

So today forgive me if I may so choose

My speech is simple, sufficient to amuse

It isn’t embellished neither fit for a king

It’s message is heartfelt, the best I can bring

To the staff in all departments, you are wonderful and true

There’s nothing more superior except to say THANK YOU!

The fun we’ve had, the joy we’ve shared

You’ve all been supportive, you really cared

So thank you all and fare thee well

This humble speech which cannot sell

My gratitude all written down

A journey ahead but friendship found
