It’s amazing when strangers become friends, but its sad when friends become strangers.

Someone sent this to me via e-mail today and I can’t help thinking how true this is… There are times in life that in a bus-stop or by the street, a kind gesture or a funny incident can connect two strangers in an instant… but a lifetime of ups and downs, memories and experiences… just cannot gel a friendship.

Check it out, the goat’s in town… ok, not for long tho… 04.gif This was our little outing to Food Foundry at Happy Mansion, Section 17… My first time there, beef burger was pretty good. The vanilla crepe cake was scrumptious… 32.gif Hope there’ll be many more foodie reunions.

Plans change so easily when you’re in KL. Yesterday, I had planned to go to check out my new home and see what’s what… but I detoured because Amelia called.

So there we were… smack in the middle of the weekend crowd, in The Gardens (Midvalley)… Sharon was late but she made it. I was so glad the KTM Komuter stops at Midvalley. Those days I remember walking from Seputeh station just to go there. Driving is a bad option on weekends. You’ll be spinning around the carpark for half-an-hour or more looking for an empty bay.

We had lunch at Pastis. Had the most delicious pesto (vegetables-only-spagghetti). It was drowned in mint sauce and would have been perfect if there was a bit of lamb in it. However I also had the most disastrous Hot Chocolate with Marshmallows. The drink tasted like the thick sedimented bottom layer of a Hot Milo. Bleccchh! Nandos serves better hot choco but they don’t have marshmallows.

The main reason why Amelia had dragged us there was because she had an important announcement. She might be going abroad. Well, if she really does, I believe it’ll be a great career move for her! Kudos!

By the way, in order to redeem my poor taste buds… I headed straight to get the large sized Aunty Anne’s lemonade. As usual it didn’t disappoint me. Next time you’re thirsty, try it.

Sunday came and it was back to SIBKL. Can really feel the weight of God’s glory and the sweeping touch of the Holy Spirit throughout the worship. Quite reminiscent of the worship style in Brisbane City Church. The lesson of the day was “Do not call unclean what I have made clean.” It was fascinating because that’s what I’ve been telling myself when I look into the eyes of all the people roaming the streets near my office.

I must have been so tired because I fell into a deep sleep back in the hotel. The Devil wears Prada was on TV. Decided to watch it because the last two times it was on TV, I never got to finish the movie.

I was so fascinated by the high life depicted by Meryl Streep. She is a wonderful actress. And wowz… then I heard it… “…booked at Pastis.”

Oh… hey that’s where I ate. I’m sure she didn’t order hot chocolate with marshmallows.

Blessed… I feel so blessed every day!

It rained cats and dogs after work yesterday, but needless to fear… I had a plan for dinner. I dashed across the puddles to the Makcik’s stall and tar pau some Assam Pedas fish-Kacang panjang chap fan for dinner. I knew I’d be too lazy to go out again, in the rain.

Then I chuckled to myself because nine years ago, on this very road, my Canadian friend, Donna and I were dancing in the rain… we were just enjoying the shower after a hot day roaming around the city.

I watched Accidental Hero on TV… A movie by Dustin Hoffman and then Benny called to say good night. I felt blessed again to know that I’ve found my better half. What’s the fun of a promotion or excelling in life, if you have no one to share it with.

Woke up this morning and was so surprised! The buffet spread was double its usual variety. I think we had a lot of check-ins yesterday, so today’s brekky was amazing. I had three bananas cos they were so sweet, I loved the cheese platter plus they served Roti Jala today (see picture). I haven’t eaten roti jala in months now.

Again I felt blessed because eating roti jala made me recall my friends in MGS. We used to eat roti jala in the school canteen. I’m glad that the Lord has blessed me with good friends.

Then I strolled to work. Was enjoying the scenery after yesterday’s rainfall. I could see inch-deep puddles with engine oil floating in it. Not very clean… But quite colourful in the way it reflects the sunlight in rainbow colours.

Came to work and found some e-mails. One of them from my mother who was trying to clarify when she could call. Another blessing to have parents who care for me.

Then Natasha called to offer me a lift from Bangsar LRT this evening. The UNITENers are hanging out tonight at Bangsar Village.

How blessed! And I hear God chuckle… “You are not alone, I go before you!”

Gingerbread… mmmm…. love this cute picture. Had a chat with all my good buddies over the phone yesterday. One of them was in Oxford so I called her mom instead. And to my pleasant surprise, I found out that she is coming back to Malaysia for three months.

So many good friends, so much to talk about, so little time!

Yesterday was unbelievably eventful. All the YTL scholars who are working in KL gathered together for a special luncheon. Met many of them for the first time. Then in the evening, I met up with two more UNITEN friends who I haven’t seen in ages. We just yakked and yakked over ice-cream and coffee.

I’m glad I’ve been able to keep-in-touch with my buddies through the internet. It makes re-adapting to KL so much easier.

I mean, what would KL life be like without them?! L-O-N-E-L-Y.
