Sabrina joined us as an accounting intern on 27 April. During her internship, she must have eaten at least 15 packs of Nasi Beriani and drank an equivalent portion of Starbucks. Well, all good things must come to an end and so, she finished her internship on 19 June. Of course, we couldn’t let her go just like that. We had a bit of makan-makan, to which she rewarded us with Big Apple donuts… Took lots of photos, hugged and off she went… Nope, not back to Germany, but south to Singapore… for a holiday!
Bye bye Sabrina, hopefully we’ll meet again someday…

It’s always sad to say goodbye to good friends… My colleague, Kho (centre) is leaving us and it’s a great loss to the company… He is not only very experienced, he is probably the nicest chap you could have on your team. My company turned 15 this year, and I guess this is the ‘era’ when you’d expect people to move on in life. So today it’s Kho’s turn. Wishing him all the best of course, and although we know he is irreplaceable, we hope his successor will be able to fill his big shoes!
Bon Voyage and God speed Kho! Wishing you only the very best!

Hey everyone, after today I won’t be a Control & Instrumentation Engineer anymore. Wow, that’s the designation I’ve held for six years. I haven’t been told my new designation. It’s a “surprise”.
I’m gonna miss…
…the whole gang and the fun we’ve had together figuring things out
…walking around the plant from UCA to UST multiple times in a day
…parking my car in my usual spot and waving to the guards
…eating gan-lau-pan-mian-la at Wan Li, chicken rice at Hwa Sun and Sarawak Laksa at the Longhouse
…intellectual debate sessions over daily news and nothing
…looking out for new ships and activities going on next door
…the simplicity of power station life
I’m not gonna miss
…the sandblasting effects on my car from MMHE (formally known as MSE)
…the potholes on the road (well, maybe… a little)
…the countless accidents and deaths I’ve seen on the road
Won’t get to say goodbye and shake the hands of Ves & Siew because they on overseas delegation. So sad! Wish they could be here.

Justice please! I just wrote a lengthy complain to the Star newspaper via the Citizen’s blog. My poor colleague was turned down his right to collect the RM 625 because he was born in Singapore. So what?! He is still a Malaysian Citizen with a blue MyKad.
Glad I could do my 2-sen worth for justice today. I hope it gets published in the papers tomorrow.
Gotta go now… gotta carry my box of belongings and a pair of safety boots from UCA 2nd floor to the boot of my car… That’s right. I’ve packed most of my office stuff. By the way, there is no elevator here… Something I won’t miss about Pasir Gudang.

3.30 p.m. and I wasn’t ready for myfarewell party… I made a quick dash to the printer so that I could collect my speech… words wouldn’t have come easily for this emo event, so a prepared poem was the best way to say it all.
Amidst the sea of familiar faces, I brim with joy because there lay before me my favourite Ayamas chicken, bihun goreng, a strawberry yogurt cheesecake and the mango delight (both cakes from Secret Recipe)… This cute graphic above is a scanned image of my farewell card. Inside reads “Wait a minute, you can’t leave, you did everything here!”
What else was there to say except thank you, thank you and thank you everyone! My hands shook nervously as I cleared my throat to speak.
Friendship, partnership and relationship
I treasure this bond, one that we should keep
Six years of journeying with you, my friends
Surely you didn’t think this is the day it ends
There are many expressions in the English lexis
Words like thank you, miss you, fond farewell kisses
But spoken words are heard and easily forgotten
They slip away eternally irrelevant
So today forgive me if I may so choose
My speech is simple, sufficient to amuse
It isn’t embellished neither fit for a king
It’s message is heartfelt, the best I can bring
To the staff in all departments, you are wonderful and true
There’s nothing more superior except to say THANK YOU!
The fun we’ve had, the joy we’ve shared
You’ve all been supportive, you really cared
So thank you all and fare thee well
This humble speech which cannot sell
My gratitude all written down
A journey ahead but friendship found
