Hey everyone… before I forget! HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR, and please do not forget to enjoy this special occasion together with your loved ones… Don’t waste this opportunity! Share the gospel, God’s love and be a blessing in every home you step into.
Learn some new recipes, origami or cute hairstyles… but don’t forget to learn about your roots and get to know your family better…

To all my loved ones, friends near and far…
Even as I blog, I know many homes are busy with all the spring-cleaning, cooking preps and shopping. I know many are tired yet excited because Reunion Dinner is in just a few hours.
Here’s to good health and prosperity, peace and happiness, stronger relationships and new ones too! Let’s practise kindness, patience, generosity, empathy and respect.
SAN LIN FAI LOK – MAN SI YU YI!

Indeed, I am in the CNY mood gastronomically speaking… Chinese New Year marks the first day in the lunar year and it’s also considered as the first day of spring in many Asian countries. The highlight of each new year celebration has got to be the Reunion Dinner. It’s a time where the whole family gets-together for dinner to usher in the CNY at midnight.
I can’t wait for Reunion this year because it means I’ll be in Penang… although a little different this year since I’ll be having dinner with the Muns, but I’ll still be in Penang – that is what matters most…
The picture I posted up yesterday was a close-up of a typical mandarin orange. During CNY, these oranges are always used during gift exchange. You may be giving your relatives the most expensive canned abalone, but the gift is never complete without a couple of oranges.
Today’s picture is a crispy snack known as love-letters. They are carefully baked in round moulds over open fire, then quickly folded into quarters when hot. Sounds like work! They are so crispy but leave them out in our humid climate, and soon they’ll be soft again. So eat them fast!
Haven’t munched any love-letters yet. Can’t wait!

Cherries… oooh… I miss snacking on them.
Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day and 29th February… What a happening month ahead! And so begins the excitement.
Will be going for TTWG tonight (Time Together With God). Bro Boon Fei will be leading the TnT’s to share in a time of devotion together at Stella’s place. Have not gone for TTWG with them before. The only TTWG I’ve had with the TnT group was at Sebana Cove, when we had the Leader’s Retreat.
Can’t wait for Friday’s steamboat at Ivy’s place. It’ll be cool cos makan has always been a great way to fellowship with friends. The steamboat is timely because it’ll be Joel’s last day with us before he heads back to Kuching.
Chinese New Year will be different this year. Reunion dinner will be at the Muns because I’m now a Mun. Not sure what to expect. Food has always been the main focus in my family (besides the reunion), but in the Muns I don’t think food is the priority. Not sure what is. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Still have nothing planned for Valentine’s and the 29th of Feb. Hmm… Brain’s ticking…

Reunion with family is a must during CNY, and the same applies also where friends are concerned. Had a fun meeting with my ex-classmates at E-gate Starbucks yesterday. Kinda fun to chat over coffee and laugh over occasional jokes.
Dear Lord, this is the last CNY I’ll be celebrating in singlehood, and it’s one of the best ever, I’d say. Took lotsa photos this time around to make sure I capture the important moments.
I’d pay a small tribute to Jon too, whom I managed to meet up with this CNY (and last Christmas)… It’s friends from the past that remind you of your roots and adventures.
Tonight, I’m off to another family dinner and then, it’d be time to pack my bags. Another slow journey back to JB. Monday’s a working day but I still can’t wait because… I’ll be selecting the bridal photos after work!
I was quite touched also when my mom shared the gospel with her cousin this CNY. Dear Lord, I pray that more in my family will come to know your saving knowledge, your goodness, faithfulness and your abundant blessings.
And to those of you who missed any of the reunions, hey, call me before March! I’ll be missing down under for three months before you’ll be able to get a hold of me.
