The other week someone remarked that I lead an interesting life. And my immediate response was “Sure… if you like living out of a suitcase.”

It’s almost inevitable for me to be constantly on the go. Sure, there is almost no permanen-cy but hey, I enjoy every uncertainty and readjustment that come with each shift.

Yes, I’m going away again. Last year, I spent a cumulative six months in Chinchilla, and this year… well… I’ll be spending six months in Kuala Lumpur. Not too bad eh?

I start on 23rd June in a brand new office literally… same company but different designation…plus on top of that, I’ll probably be calling a 1,000 sqft apartment my new home and the LRT my new pet. Oh yes, it’s not about making more money… but I’ll be achieving the following goals in the process:

  1. Job satisfaction
  2. Masters in Engineering
  3. MBA
  4. New church
  5. New friends
  6. New wardrobe
  7. A fresh sense of direction

Yes KL… Here I come!

Happy Chinchilla New Year!

Pairach sent me two pics of the chinchilla weir… He took them during the 2nd day of CNY. I only saw them today because I’ve been having difficulties downloading my Yahoo! mail attachments.

Queensland is certainly bursting its banks all over.

Sigh… now I miss the Aussie days.

Bye bye Chinchilla & Kogan Creek…

It’s time to go again… don’t have the same sad sentimental feeling as before because I’m not really leaving any friends behind this time… everyone’s leaving!! We’ve all got our families, neighbourhood, lives to go back to. Christmas is coming and whether anyone celebrates it for the real reason, everyone wants to go home for Christmas!

I have another day of work tomorrow but that will quickly pass… then I’m off! Whoosh! Gone with the wind!

Thank you Lord for the adventure, fun and experience!

Letters to Santa anyone?

Was browsing the Christmas cards and souvenirs sold in the local post office. Couldn’t help snapping this photo.

The locals take it seriously, don’t they? This kind of box for posting letters to the North Pole would not be found in Malaysia, unless it was some contest for the best slogan / letter to the Father of Christmas. The prize would have to be a free holiday to Europe or a brand new apartment or a year’s worth of groceries.

It’s a novelty I guess, for the children. To be able to express their secret wishes for Christmas to someone who supposedly cares… to someone who gives prezzies only to good children…

Dear Lord,

Thank you that I don’t have to be literate to express my heart’s desire. Thank you that you give good gifts to all your children.

It has always been the churches concern to emphasize Jesus during Christmas while the commercial world advertises Santa. In Western cities where Christmas has become no more than a holiday, where “Season’s Greetings” replace “Blessed Christmas” and “All I want for Christmas” replaces “Silent Night Holy Night”… Santa reigns, and Jesus fades away.

Hmm… come on, Western World… Asia is picking up Christianity, and believing in Jesus like rapid fire… Don’t get left behind!

Why do I believe in Jesus?

  • Not because I want to go to heaven, but because I’ve found a friend in Him
  • Not because I want some miracles, but because I can bring miracles to others for Him
  • Not because of fanaticism, but because I’ve been given new life through Him
  • Not because I need someone to love me, but because without His love I am nothing
  • Not because my church is lively, but because we can be a family
  • Not because I love the songs, but because I want to live a life where I can write them
  • Not because I find meaning and purpose, but because I start to recognize the battle for our souls
  • Not because I want to conquer evil, but because Jesus can set lives free
  • Not because I choose to be holy, but because Jesus washed my sins away
  • Not because He solves all my problems, but because with Jesus, I don’t have to do it on my own
  • Not because I want to be happy, but because I can be sad but still have joy
  • Not because of having religion, but because I rest in gratitude that He created me in His own image
  • Not because there’s more to life, but because Jesus paid with His life in exchange for mine
  • Not because I think Christmas is cool, but because Easter tells me He’ll be back
  • Not because the world needs faith, but because the things unseen have been seen by Jesus.
  • Not because I love the stories, but because my story has a glorious ending

Jesus, I believe in you, I belong to you, you’re the reason that I live, the reason that I sing, WITH ALL I AM…

HOT HOT HOT!

The weather’s really bad today… must have gotten a heatstroke while I was out today. We hit 34 deg C today, and eventhough I’m in the aircond comfort of my room now, I still feel hot, feverish and drowsy. OK – I don’t think my body temp is more than 105 deg F (40 deg C) so I don’t have heatstroke.

I downed two vitamin pills today, drank lots of water and even showered three times!

There was a BBQ just now, but I must have been there for only 15 mins, before the heat got the better of me. Now I’m safe in my room again!

In fact, the internet’s been quite unstable lately. I do believe the wireless hub is overheating in this weather. Such an important piece of equipment placed in a horrid location like the camp kitchen!!

Oh anyway, be thankful under all circumstances
